Company Provides Comprehensive Information Governance Solutions for Enterprise Data Stewards
SOUTH HARWICH, Mass. – May 9, 2016 – BackOffice Associates, a worldwide leader of information governance and data modernization solutions, today announced that it was named as a representative vendor in Gartner’s Market Guide for Information Stewardship Applications(1). Gartner identified BackOffice Associates as an organization that offers a purpose-built information stewardship solution, or one packaged from multiple applications. According to the report, this “group plays directly into the information stewardship application market.”
“Today’s global enterprise dynamics require effective data-focused collaborations between business and IT-focused resources when it comes to making business-critical decisions,” said David Booth, chairman and CEO, BackOffice Associates. “We believe this inclusion of BackOffice Associates in this critical report demonstrates our strength in providing chief data officers and their teams these capabilities through a comprehensive information stewardship solution.”
Per the report’s Key Findings, “Governance, though focused on people and process, requires specific technology to support and enforce its practices – that is, to ensure effective stewardship.”
Gartner’s report defines information stewardship applications as “business solutions used by business users acting in the role of information steward (interpreting and enforcing information governance policy, for example).” It states that the market comprises vendors including the following capabilities (two or more) in their packaged or future-stated solutions: information model; data quality monitoring and profiling, business glossary (which would integrate with a data dictionary); analytics (on the data, model usage, glossary status, workflow performance, business rules usage, and business benefit measured as a result of the work of information governance and stewardship); workflow/exception management, business rules and policy management, playbooks or preloaded templates; and audit trail/organizational memory. It also adds that “information stewardship applications also provide, or seek to provide, a user interface targeted at the business user role of information steward.”
The report’s authors recommend that chief data officers (CDOs) and information stewards “include in your software technology evaluation the application needs of information stewards performing business functions” and “match the needs for information stewardship capabilities over multiple information-related projects with solutions specific to this market space.”
BackOffice Associates newly released Data Stewardship Platform 6.5 and dspConduct application provide comprehensive business process governance and application data management across all data in all systems. The company’s most powerful data stewardship platform to date, DSP 6.5 drives data stewardship engagement by linking business users and technical experts through the business processes of data. dspConduct, which is built on DSP 6.5, helps Global 2000 organizations proactively set and enforce strategic data policies across all application data found in their complex IT system landscape.
